Apollo Book Competition 20 April 2012

For our last competition prize we offered you Picasso and Modern British Art (Tate Publishing, £24.99).

We asked you: In which year did Tate Britain acquire Picasso’s The Three Dancers (1925)?

Answer: 1990

Congratulations to Anne Naylor, winner of this competition, drawn at random from the hundreds of correct answers we received.

Our new competition prize is Edwardian Country Life: The Story of H. Avray Tipping (Frances Lincoln, £35.00). This publication considers the life of Henry Avray Tipping, an architectural historian, landscape designer and the first Architectural Editor of Country Life. Tipping’s remarkable work includes the restoration of a medieval bishop’s palace, his commissioning of High Glanau in Monmouthshire and the garden design at the Prime Minister’s official country residence, Chequers. Divided into five chapters and richly illustrated with artworks, floor plans, archival and present day photographs, the publication traces the life and parallel careers, in architectural writing and architectural landscape design, of one of the forgotten, but most influential figures of the English country-life lifestyle.

For your chance to win, simply answer the following question and submit your details below before midday on 26 April 2012:

In which year was Henry Avray Tipping appointed Architectural Editor of Country Life?
