BANKSY NEW SHOW.

A unique collaboration between Banksy and the Bristol Museum has recently been unveiled. The exhibition, which is Banksy’s first museum show, has already attracted thousands of visitors to his home city. The exhibition is themed according to Banksy’s take on classical art. Banksy, who has exhibited all over the world, is delighted to be holding his first government-funded exhibition, which he describes as, ‘his vision of the future, to which many people will say: “ You should have gone to Specsavers”.’

MOCA

Things are looking up for MOCA, with news that more, quite substantial, donations have been received by the LA museum in recent days. A Museum trustee, real estate and investment executive Fred Sans, has donated $ 2 million; an anonymous donor has also come forward with a $1 million donation. Added to other donations the museum has received in recent months, this makes a total of $10 million raised since January.  The contemporary art museum is gradually starting to climb its way out of the financial crisis that came to a head in early November.

 
INDIAN SALE

Proving that things aren’t all recessionary doom and gloom, Sotheby’s most recent Indian art auction has managed to far exceed its pre-sale expectation. With a total of £2,067,400 raised, the sale featured many prominent contemporary and modern Indian artists as well as rare and important miniatures.

With news that the Bellwether gallery is to close down, The Gagosian Gallery, Beverly Hills has just announced that it is soon to double its gallery space, in a new development that is set to open in 2010.
