Palmyra | Satellite photographs have confirmed that ISIS fighters in the ruined city have blown up the Temple of Bel. Following a large explosion on Monday, Syria’s chief of antiquities had expressed hope that the structure remained intact. The destruction follows the demolition of the nearby Temple of Baal Shamin last month.
‘Gold Train’ Ablaze? | Outside Walbrzych, Poland, the suspected location of a buried Nazi train filled with looted art and gold caught fire on Sunday night. The blaze was put out quickly by firefighters, and local authorities have denied it was caused by arson.
