Director, Art Jameel, Dubai
Since 2016, Antonia Carver has been director of Art Jameel, which supports artists and creative communities across the Middle East and beyond. She has overseen the organisation’s biggest project to date, the Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai, which opened in November 2018 with three floors of gallery space, an arts research library (the first of its kind in the UAE) and a sculpture park. Carver has lived in the UAE since 2001, and from 2010 to 2016 was director of Art Dubai. She was previously projects director at the Middle Eastern art organisation Bidoun, and has written extensively on Middle Eastern art and film.
