In this Apollo podcast, Thomas Marks is joined by artist Idris Khan on the eve of his survey exhibition at the New Art Gallery in Walsall. Khan discusses the installation of his largest exhibition to date, and what it means for it to be taking place in the Midlands town in which he grew up. He reflects on how his process has developed from the composite photographs that initially made his name more than a decade ago, and how he has increasingly worked in the fields of painting and sculpture. The discussion closes with Khan’s thoughts on the opportunities available for emerging artists today – and a generous offer of mentorship.
