This exhibition inaugurates a new series entitled Close Up. Every year, the museum will feature a single work of art in Gardner’s collection and show it to you in a new light. This February the museum will explore the impact of the Italian Renaissance on contemporary art. Hostetter Gallery sets the stage for a dialogue between a study for Emergence, a video installation by Bill Viola on special loan from the Yale University Art Gallery, and The Annunciation by Piermatteo D’Amelia.
