Flower Fairies: Botanical Magic

Garden Museum, London

NOW CLOSED

Cicely Mary Barker published the first of her Flower Fairies book in 1923, and the series has gone on to become a classic of children’s literature and illustration. This exhibition presents the original illustrations for more than 40 of Barker’s original designs; together, the works demonstrate Barker’s artistic precision. She developed the fairies themselves from careful observation of children in her sister’s nursery, while her depictions of plants are always botanically accurate. Find out more about the ‘Flower Fairies’ exhibition from the Garden Museum’s website.
