Apollo

Glenstone Museum

Potomac, Maryland

NOW CLOSED

Opening 4 October

With the Glenstone Museum’s major expansion, a building of 204,000 square feet named the Pavilions, the previously small-scale museum, situated in rural Maryland a short way from Washington, will become one of the largest private museums in the US. The Pavilions have been designed by Thomas Phifer and Partners, while the museum’s surrounding gardens will more than double in size to 230 acres, with a redesign by PWP Landscape Architecture. The Glenstone collection was founded by Emily and Mitchell Rales, and currently comprises around 1,300 modern and contemporary works, by artists from Matisse to Michael Heizer. Find out more from the Glenstone Museum’s website.
