In September 1719, the State Apartments in the Royal Palace (Residenzschloss) of Dresden were opened by Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony. Marking its tricentenary, the newly restored apartments will reopen on 29 September. The State Art Collections of Dresden are also celebrating the refurbishment of the Old Masters Picture Gallery and the Sculpture Collection, both of which are reopening on 7 December, with the reinstallation of a permanent collection that boasts masterpieces by Raphael, Rembrandt, and Giambologna. Find out more about the State Apartments and the new galleries from the SKD’s website.
