More than 250 works explore the impact of two decades of American military engagement in the Gulf on the artists who live and work there, as well as Middle Eastern artists based elsewhere. Among the artists featured are Dia al-Azzawi, Monira Al Qadiri, and Afifa Aleiby; there are also responses to the wars by artists working in the West, including the Guerrilla Girls, Thomas Hirschhorn and Paul Chan.
