Worlds Under Glass: Adventures in Taxidermy

Saffron Walden Museum, Essex

NOW CLOSED

The exhibition explores the history of taxidermy, from its beginnings in Wunderkammer cabinets to the importance of its role in anatomy and biology. Crude early examples are displayed alongside those which capture the character of their specimens with great accuracy. The exhibition offers the viewer a closer look at a variety of fascinating creatures, while also providing a glimpse into the taxidermist’s practice, with a display of their materials and techniques. Find out more about the ‘World’s Under Glass’ exhibition from the Saffron Walden Museum’s website.
