In her exhibition-making and artistic practice, German-born Canadian artist-curator Ydessa Hendeles has often explored notions of difference and diversity, and the way representation and distortion, appropriation and assimilation can filter group and individual identities. ‘From her wooden sleep…’, first mounted at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts in 2015 but now expanded in a site-specific installation for Israel, continues this exploration using art, artefacts, found objects and audio to create a unique, multi-gallery tableau vivant.
