While some museums remain shuttered due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Apollo’s usual weekly pick of exhibitions will include shows at institutions that are now reopening as well as digital projects providing virtual access to art and culture.

The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art boasts one of the finest collections of Dada and Surrealist art in the world, thanks largely to the bequest in 1995 of some 170 works by Gabrielle Keiller, and the acquisition of the archive, library, and more than 30 works from the collection of Roland Penrose. The reopening of the gallery on 24 August offers another chance to see this focused display drawn from its collections, with works by Max Ernst, Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró and René Magritte, as well as British Surrealists such as Leonora Carrington.
