Dasha Zhukova is co-founder of Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow, which opened in 2008 and moved to its permanent home in Gorky Park in 2015. In St Petersburg, she has been leading the creative team renovating New Holland Island, a 19-acre artificial island, as a cultural centre. But her patronage reaches far beyond Russia, in terms of both promoting Russian contemporary culture and supporting major institutions: Zhukova is a trustee of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and sits on the board of The Shed, an arts centre due to open on the west side of Manhattan where the High Line meets Hudson Yards, in 2019.
