After a £4.3m renovation and expansion, the Fruitmarket in Edinburgh reopened its doors on 7 July. The exhibition space has been doubled, with the centre expanding into an adjacent warehouse (formerly home to Electric Circus nightclub) that will serve as a venue for theatre and music as well as visual art presentations. The gallery has reopened with a retrospective for the Scottish artist Karla Black, whose tactile, abstract sculptures constructed from materials as diverse as cardboard and Vaseline will be on view until 24 October.
