Gallery: ‘Self’ at Turner Contemporary

A selection of self-portraits from Turner Contemporary's latest show

How have artists chosen to represent themselves over the centuries? A new exhibition at Turner Contemporary in Margate explores the changing character of the self-portrait, from the 16th century to present day. The display is drawn from the collection of the National Portrait Gallery, and centres on Van Dyck’s final self-portrait, which the London institution recently acquired.

‘Self’ is at Turner Contemporary, Margate, from 24 January–10 May.
