As part of the government-funded Liget Budapest project to create a museum quarter in the Hungarian capital’s oldest public park, the House of Music, Hungary, opens its doors to the public on 23 January. Housed in a showy new building by Sou Fujimoto, topped with a huge perforated white roof, the new cultural centre includes a number of concert halls as well as a 1,000 sq m gallery space, in which a permanent exhibition explores the history of music in Europe. An inaugural temporary exhibition, meanwhile, focuses on Hungarian pop music from 1957–93. Find out more from the Liget Budapest website.
