Kerry James Marshall’s mural withdrawn from Christie’s auction | A mural by Kerry James Marshall called Knowledge and Wonder (1995) and originally created for the Chicago Public Library has been withdrawn from a Christie’s New York auction, scheduled to take place on 15 November. Last month, the mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, announced that the sale proceeds (estimated to be up to $15 million) would go towards upgrading the city’s Legler Library. However, after considerable criticism from museum officials, politicians, and local publications, Emanuel has revoked the decision to sell the work.

Sally Tallent appointed director of New York’s Queens Museum | The Queens Museum in New York has announced that the former director of the Liverpool Biennial, Sally Tallent, will become its new president and executive director. Tallent served as the Liverpool Biennial’s director for several years and was previously Head of Programs at Serpentine Gallery, London. The New York Times reports that Tallent’s appointment to the Queens Museum comes after the controversial resignation of Laura Raicovich in January, who clashed with the museum board after a dispute about an Israeli-sponsored event.

Paglen’s multi-disciplinary work encompasses investigative journalism, visual art, science and explores the purpose of technology in contemporary culture. His work will be exhibited at the Nam June Paik Art Centre in 2019.
