Modernism in Miniature

19 August 2022

This exhibition at Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena (12 August–9 January 2023) reveals a counter-history of 20th-century art through a display of miniaturised works by modernist artists such as Paul Klee, Lyonel Feininger and Claes Oldenburg. Among the highlights are the 1961 edition of Marcel Duchamp’s Boîte-En-Valise [Box in a Suitcase] (1935–1941), which contains 68 miniature works including small-scale reproductions of his early paintings and found objects, and a playful series of toy sculptures by the American artist Lyonel Feininger and his son T. Lux Feininger. Find out more on the Norton Simon Museum’s website.
