Museum Opening of the Year

15 November 2019

Africa Museum, Tervuren
Reopened December 2018

After a five-year renovation the Africa Museum just outside Brussels, which was once known as ‘the world’s last colonial museum’, doubled its public spaces. It now shows a willingness to confront the realities of Belgian colonialism, and the brutality of the Congo Free State in particular, while also finding new ways to display what is one of the world’s finest collections of Central African art.
