Colour Photography before the Great War

Before the outbreak of the First World War, the French banker Albert Kahn commissioned a series of colour photographs and films from around the world. Over 70,000 of them still survive from the remarkable project, which sought to promote understanding between different nations and cultures at a time when the world was heading slowly towards war.
