El Greco and Modern Painting

Four hundred years after the artist’s death, this commemorative exhibition considers El Greco’s resurgent popularity and influence in the 19th and 20th centuries, and the various ways in which his distinctive late style was studied and reinterpreted by various artists in their own painterly experiments. Twenty-five works by El Greco are presented alongside 75 by 19th-century and modern artists in this wide-ranging display.
