Tomi Ungerer has enjoyed international fame as the ingenious illustrator of children’s books, as a provocative graphic artist, and an author unafraid to vent his acerbic wit. By comparison, Ungerer’s artistic work outside publishing remains largely unknown. His collages, assemblages, and sculptures have formed an important part of his overall artistic output since the 1950s. This exhibition is the fi rst to devote itself extensively to this important aspect of the artist’s work, and its nucleus is formed by collages dating from the last fifteen years. Read more.
