Johann König is a champion of youth, representing 27 artists from his premises in Berlin, including Camille Henrot, Alicja Kwade and Helen Marten. In 2015, he will take over St Agnes church in Kreuzberg, its 800 square metres allowing him to showcase larger installations and marking him out as a unique player in the Berlin and European art market. Art is in König’s blood – his father is acclaimed curator Kasper König – but he has not succeeded without a struggle: a childhood accident that left him partially blind might have put paid to a career as a gallerist.
