Alex Farquharson

Alex Farquharson has been the director of Tate Britain, London, since 2015. He was previously the first director of Nottingham Contemporary, which opened in 2009 and has since become one of the leading contemporary art institutions in the UK. Farquharson has curated, written, and lectured widely, organising or co-organising solo exhibitions on international artists such as Wael Shawky, Danh Vo, and Carol Rama, and British artists including David Hockney, Richard Long, and Bridget Riley. He has authored several books, including volumes on Iza Genzken, Richard Wright and Thomas Demand. He currently serves as a trustee of Raven Row, London, and has chaired the Turner Prize jury since 2015.
