Alexander Calder: Performing Sculpture

Tate Modern, London

NOW CLOSED

This retrospective of Calder, featuring over 100 works, presents the US artist’s pioneering kinetic sculptures. Calder travelled to Paris in the 1920s and it was here that he developed his wire pieces – by 1931 he had invented the mobile, a term coined by Duchamp to describe these works in suspension.
