International Contemporary Art from UK Galleries
Art from Elsewhere brings together works that depict different realities of profound global change. This Hayward Touring exhibition, supported by the Art Fund and curated by internationally renowned curator David Elliott, recognises the vital importance of continuing to enrich collections of contemporary art throughout the country.
Amongst the art collected, Elliott has discovered shared themes that are explored by the artists. Their works reflect on the realities of global change, examine questions of trade and exchange, urban and international migration, frontiers and failed utopias. Art from Elsewhere features works on paper, video, sculpture and painting and includes some of the most important contemporary artists working today. The exhibition will change from city to city, taking care to highlight the five collections, but not repeating artworks that the museum might have exhibited recently. In this way, each showing will take a unique form and will provide an array of interpretations for the visitor and gallery alike.
