This exhibition is all about contemporary Chinese art which is rarely on view here in Belgium. Alongside work by nine artists from China, photos by the Flemish photographer Dirk Braeckman and pictures of Le Corbusier’s Philips Pavilion are also on display. The elaborate work alphabet bété of the African artist Frédéric Bruly Bouabré stands along the work of Xu Bing. Both artists depict the power of language in their oeuvre. This interplay doesn’t just break through clichés, but demonstrates how artists from the Far East speak the same visual language as artists from all around the world.
