For master designer Gianfranco Ferré, drawing was both the expression of freedom, rigor, creativity and method, and a working tool, the point of departure for his most innovative creations. This fall, Phoenix Art Museum will present Gianfranco Ferré Designs, a unique companion installation to The White Shirt According to Me: Gianfranco Ferré, in the Museum’s Ellman Fashion Design Gallery. Featuring more than 80 sketches by Ferré, the drawings include both illustrative and technical examples of Ferré’s unique, vibrant style, along with the completed translations of Ferré’s initial conception to the three dimensional garment.
