The first presentation of Gustave Courbet’s work in Switzerland for more than 16 years, this exhibition at the Fondation Beyeler includes 60 works that emphasise the French painter’s role as one of the earliest painters of the avant-garde. The show is part of a joint project with the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire in Geneva – toghether they make for a ‘Saison Courbet’ this autumn.
