Edouard Manet’s paintings have proved exceptionally influential, paving the way for the Impressionists’ radical experiments, and inspiring many more artists since. This exhibition includes work by 19th-century and modern artists including Monet, John Singer Sargent, Walter Sickert, Gwen John, Vanessa Bell and Laura Knight. Among the exhibits is Two Girls Resting on the Grass (pictured; c. 1900–12), an oil painting by Philip Wilson Steer that resurfaced only recently after more than 70 years.
