This exhibition of contemporary art takes its title from an unpublished essay by John Maynard Keynes, in which the economist (who was a close friend of the Bloomsbury group artists and other avant-garde artists of his day), considered whether the rooms we live in have a suggestive influence over our lives and thoughts.
Artists in residence at the Wysing Arts Centre stay in a Grade II listed farmhouse on its premises. To celebrate and reflect on the centre’s 25-year history, Wysing has invited several of them to transform the building with artworks which respond to its unusual history and character.
