Unearthed (In Memoriam)

Christ’s College artist in residence Issam Kourbaj has lived in Cambridge since 1989. This installation in St Peter’s Church, just beside Kettle’s Yard, responds to the recent and ongoing troubles in Syria: hardback book covers, arranged on the floor of the church and painted with black ribbons that echo those placed over photographs of the dead in Syria, remembers and memorialises the dead.
