Ars Narrandi from Europe’s Gothic Age
Siena was a great centre of painting throughout the gothic and early Renaissance periods. This exhibition brings together over 60 paintings from the region, celebrating the innovations of 14th and 15th-century artists such as Duccio, Simone Martini and the Lorenzetti brothers, whose work moved away from static symbolism to a more narrative and empathetic portrayal of religious stories.
