Paul Schneider-Esleben was one of the principal architects to shape the post-war modernist era in Germany, as well as the construction of mega projects in concrete, high-tech architecture, and the modernization and expansion of existing structures. His Mannesmann-Hochhaus in Düsseldorf (1955–58) was the first building in Germany with a steel skeleton and curtain walls. Both conceptually and technically, Schneider-Esleben was an innovator.
