The Art Institute of Chicago acquired Ensor’s monumental drawing The Temptation of Saint Anthony in 2006, and have since carefully restored it. Ensor made the work, which depicts the saint at the mercies of modern life, in the 1880s, at a difficult point in his own life. This is the first time the work has been on public display outside Belgium since the 1950s.
