Masterworks from the Kasser Mochary Art Foundation
This exhibition examines one of the most universal subjects in art, the portrayal of the human figure. ‘The Figure Examined’ presents a wide range of paintings, sculptures, and works on paper by European and American artists of the 19th and 20th centuries, including such figures as Auguste Rodin, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, and Jackson Pollock. Juxtaposing these diverse approaches to a common subject reveals the radical stylistic changes that occurred in the modernist period, as well as the broad spectrum of political, philosophical, and aesthetic meanings that can be expressed through the human form. The exhibition consists of over 100 works drawn from the collection assembled by Elizabeth and Alexander Kasser.
