An old photograph of Lucian Freud posing in Francis Bacon’s studio inspired Regrets, a series of works by the influential contemporary artist Jasper Johns that reproduces, mirrors and reworks the original image in various media. The Courtauld exhibition is based on, but reframes, an original exhibition staged earlier this year at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
