El Greco and Pulzone Face to Face
El Greco’s portrait of Vincenzo Anastagi is one of just two full-length portraits by the artist, and is one of the Frick Collection’s most prized possessions. It goes on show this month alongside a portrait Jacopo Boncompagni by Scipione Pulzone, the artist’s Roman contemporary, whose meticulous and elegant style forms an interesting counterpoint to El Greco’s more robust and painterly creation.
