Efrat Natan

Israel Art Museum, Jerusalem

NOW CLOSED

Whitewash and Tar

This retrospective exhibition surveys more than four decades of creative output by the Israeli multidisciplinary artist Efrat Natan. Born in 1947 in Kibbutz Kfar Rupin, Natan is one of the pioneers of conceptual and body art in Israel. Throughout her career, she has created a vocabulary of powerfully charged visual imagery that resonates deeply with her own biography, the collective Israeli experience, and current events – as well as with art history. On view are works made especially for this exhibition, alongside the re-creation of Roof Work, originally presented on the rooftop of the artist’s Tel Aviv apartment in 1979. Read more.
