Art shipping has joined the digital revolution. Long-time friends and business partners, Edouard Gouin and Clément Ouizille are co-founders of Convelio, a start-up specialising in fine-art shipping that uses algorithms to offer greater efficiency and to allow clients to compare competitive quotes. The company was founded in 2017 and now has more than 2,000 clients, facilitating business for many of the largest auction houses, galleries and collectors. Last year, after a record year in which turnover grew by 300 per cent, Gouin and Ouizille raised $9m in start-up funding, allowing Convelio to expand with new offices in New York. Gouin and Ouizille both worked in e-commerce before bringing their technological expertise to the world of fine-art shipping.
