‘Somewhat Abstract’ opens at Nottingham Contemporary on Saturday. The exhibition will feature key modern and contemporary works from the Arts Council Collection. Not all are abstract in the strictest sense, but, as gallery director Alex Farquharson has written for Apollo, they ‘could not have been made without abstract art’ and the ideas behind it. Here are a few of the highlights.
