The Sikhs and World War One
This exhibition launches a three-year project to investigate the role of the Sikh community in the First World War. Sikhs made up 20% of the British Indian Army at the outbreak of the conflict, despite forming only 2% of the population, and played a significant but often overlooked part in the war effort.
