Turner

Caumont Art Centre, Aix-en-Provence

NOW CLOSED

Considered the precursor of Impressionism, Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1857) is undoubtedly one of the most iconic English painters of the 19th century. In partnership with the Turner Contemporary of Margate, this exhibition allow you to rediscover Turner’s art through his exploration and experimentation with colour.

Bringing together approximately one hundred paintings and watercolours, including various series displayed together for the first time, the exhibition retraces the subtle evolution in the painter’s palette down through the years, and over the course of his travels from London to Yorkshire, and from France to Italy.
