On 1 October a blockbuster retrospective of the works of the most famous Japanese artist opens at the Grand Palais. Hokusai was an astonishingly prolific draughtsman, engraver and painter and this exhibition includes prints, books, paintings (some which have never been exhibited before) and some fragile preparatory drawings. ‘Hokusai (1760–1849)’ is at the Grand Palais from 1 October–18 January 2015. The exhibition will be closed from 21–30 November so that fragile works can be exchanged.
